Departure hall abroad expanded

As a further component of the so-called bridging measures at Munich-Riem Airport, the expansion of the departure hall abroad (waiting room A) was completed at the beginning of June 1971.

The ground-level extension for international departure traffic covered an area of 1575 square meters. 6 gates were available, which enable the so-called "gate check-in handling system". This system provides that passengers without luggage, who are already in possession of a ticket, no longer go to one of the counters in the check-in hall, but can be checked in at the gate in question to save time.

The cost of the extension including the interior furnishings amounted to approx. 1.2 million DM. The construction time was eight months.
