As a wholly owned subsidiary of Flughafen München GmbH, MucAir Services Gesellschaft für Luftverkehrsabfertigungen mbH started operations on April 1st, 1974. The task of MucAir is to handle aircraft, passengers, luggage, air mail and air freight for airlines that do not have their own handling staff at Munich Airport.

As of April 1, 1974, MucAir had already concluded handling agreements with 12 domestic and foreign airlines. At the beginning, 14 experienced employees ensured the handling, which at that time already corresponded to international standards. MucAir was renamed Cargogate in 1999 and today, with around 220 employees, serves more than 60 airlines in cargo handling and document handling.
