On December 23, 1972, the first DC-10 landed at Munich Airport. The three-engine McDonnell Douglas “Ankara” DC-10 (TC-JAV) - construction number 46704/29 of Turkish Airlines landed punctually at Munich Airport.
Almost 14 months after this happy event, the same DC-10 “Ankara” wrote a sad chapter:
On March 3, 1974, the three-engine McDonnell Douglas “Ankara” (TC-JAV) - hull number 46704/29 of Turkish Airlines crashed over Ermenonville. None of the 346 people on board survived the crash. The flight accident went down in history as one of the most serious aircraft accidents in aviation.
