On November 9, 1948, Charles D. Daily was appointed Airport Administrator for Riemer Airport. He administered the Munich airport and took care of one Rapid reconstruction of the airport, which was destroyed in 70%, after the Second World War.

Together with Graf zu Castell - who later became the managing director of Flughafen München GmbH (FMG) - he turned the rubble field into a fully operational and expandable airport.

November 09, 1996 - Demolition of the last airport building

48 years later, will the last (not listed) airport building blown up at Riemer Airport. The airport was officially shut down on May 17, 1992, but the striking hangar remained on the construction site of the new trade fair for another 4 years.

The Lufthansa hangar, which was officially opened in 1965, was blown up at 3:06 p.m. on November 9, 1996 and thus razed to the ground forever. With this, a landmark disappears from the Munich area, which probably had to be deleted from the originally planned trade fair concept due to the high asbestos content.
