Munich gets an Flughafen-Riem-Strasse in Trudering-Riem:
Lt. Decision of November 17, 2011 of the municipal department of the state capital Munich, the 500 m long street south of the U2 stop Messestadt West in Trudering-Riem is named “Flughafen-Riem-Straße”.
The name was given in memory of the old Munich-Riem airport, which was in operation here from 1939 to 1992. In 1992 Munich II Airport was opened in Erdinger Moos, and flight operations in Munich-Riem were discontinued.
